    Fresh, unique wood-fired ZA!

This place is the hidden gem of Newark, DE.

Located off campus on the corner of Cleveland Ave, WFPS is a tiny building with an even tinier parking lot. There isn't much sitting space and their phone line is pretty busy on the weekends, but it's your standard local business and that's what I love about it. Every pie is thoughtfully and patiently made. (I once waited over an hour for my pie during a busy weekend after a snow storm, and it was worth it.)

Usually when I get WFPS, I order one pie and the basil cheese bread, which was usually enough to split between my best friend and I. Then again, as runners, we love our pizza and carbs.

The pizza itself is light and fresh. The crust is thin, with a good ratio of doughy to crispy.

My favorite pizza there is the Fighting Blue Hen, which is their take on a Buffalo Chicken pie. I love it because it is surprisingly light. It has the perfect amount of spice and they don't drown it in cheese (as you would expect from buff chick dip).

I also recommend checking out their Instagram page for their seasonal/specialty creations, which they come out with quite frequently and for a limited amount of time. Each new pizza looks delicious and unique!

As a recent UD grad, I am sad that this place isn't around the corner anymore. But maybe that will make the pie taste even better when I come back to visit!

Awesome pizza. We had the margarita but there are many options available. Great prices. Highly recommend!

This was my first time going into WFPS... I've known about them for years and supported them when they only had their truck. It was my first time at their shop for mother's day. We've driven by there multiple times but their funky hours they are usually closed when we are around the area.

It's interesting because there were only a handful of people in the restaurant but the small parking lot was packed. I had to drive around a couple times to find a spot. You walk inside and the placement of things is kind of weird off the bat. Usually when you go into a restaurant, if you're going to order something, the register is maybe on the side or in the back. The register was immediately to the left when you walked inside.  It looks like almost a bachelor pad (not dirty or anything but they don't utilize their space efficiently). The area in which you get your napkins, looked like an afterthought. I was confused because it looked like almost a catering setup that wasn't for customers because the way it was arranged on the table.

We ordered El Blanco and waited. They do have a cool little area where you can watch the pizzas being made. We got it to go but in less than 10 minutes I had a slice and the first bite was decent because you got the taste of olive oil. But the rest of the slice was very bland and the dough squishy. I didn't even finish it. I'm really disappointed because this is not the pizza I remember. And within 15 to 20 minutes of me eating that slice I had stomach issues.

My favorite pizza.  Better than any pizza I've had in Philly, NYC or even Italy.
The Margarita is  what I usually order,  but the Blue Hen and Pepperoni are also good.
